Dear Peninsula Friend,
This year, the Loy Krathong festival falls on 28 November, and in honour of this special day The Peninsula
Bangkok is preparing a grand celebration along the banks of the Chao Phraya River. The festival’s origin
dates back to the first time Thai people offered thanks to the Goddess of Water by floating krathongs –
delicately crafted floats made of lotus or banana leaves, a candle and incense sticks – on the river. To
this day, Loy Krathong remains one of the most popular events in Thailand.

Yours sincerely |
